Welcome to my blog about all things related to Yale Men's Tennis. Subscribe (you can enter your email at the bottom) or check in here as I will be updating frequently. I will do my best to keep everyone informed on all aspects of our program including: match recaps, player and coach profiles, recruiting updates and more. Feel free to leave comments and/or questions and I will respond.
I thought a fitting way to start was to detail what I consider to be the foundation of our program: our mission, vision and values. When I was first hired at Yale I put a lot of thought into what our purpose as a program should be and what I thought was possible to achieve. How could we add value to the players' Yale experience? How would this fit into the overall mission of the university? Finally, we involved the players and took their input on what they thought our values should consist of. Over the last few years, as we continued to learn as coaches and players, we have tweaked each of these areas and come up with the following.
MISSION: To use the challenges of high level Division 1 tennis and the pursuit of competitive excellence as a vehicle to help our players grow as people, athletes and leaders.
VISION: Create a program that is a destination for elite tennis players and students who are highly motivated to pursue individual and collective excellence represented by the ability to compete for Ivy Championships.
VALUES: D.A.W.G.S
Determined competitors who accept their circumstances and project strength and confidence as they relentlessly pursue solutions to the challenges in front of them
Accountable to our standards which we strive to meet at a championship level. We own our successes and our failures
Wholehearted in our commitment to our individual and collective development as players and people
Grateful for those that support us and for the opportunities we have been afforded
Supportive teammates and community members that accept, appreciate and elevate the people around them.
Next time you hear the team yell "GO DAWGS!" before a match you will understand there is a lot behind those words.
Go DAWGS,
Chris
Love it, Coach. Excited to keep following these updates. Let's go!
